This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

In Elements of music 1 students focus on learning the fundamental elements of music (Pitch,Rhythm, Timbre, Dynamics) and their related terms which will provide them an understanding of how composers and musicians create specific effects, feelings and emotions through music. For example, why do listeners become tense every time Darth Vader's Imperial March theme music is heard? Students will learn and stay engaged through musical games and activities, and the playing of small percussive instruments. They will take basic notes, actively listen to and analyze many genres of music including medieval, Renaissance, Classical, Rock, Pop, Children's Music, and Movie Music. The teacher will play a variety of instruments to demonstrate musical terms and ideas, and students will receive a folder to organize their work. This class is suitable for musicians and non-musicians alike. The power of music is strong. Becoming an active listener, being exposed to different styles of music, and understanding the fundamental elements of music are all wonderful experiences and skills to have in life!
