Horsemanship Workshop

Lovelane’s Therapeutic Horsemanship Workshop is a comprehensive 5-day experience where children get a chance to ride horses, have fun around the barn and stay active over the summer break. In addition to riding, activities include: grooming and tacking, basic horse care, horse education, arts and crafts, games, and other fun horse experiences! This opportunity is a great introductory program for beginner riders with special needs. This Workshop will be led by a licensed therapeutic riding instructor who is assisted by volunteers, ensuring that each child gets an individualized experience.

PARTICIPANTS MUST BE:*
- between 7 and 13 years of age
- able to walk independently
- understand and follow directions
- able to function in a group setting for 3 hours
- under 120 pounds
- cleared for horseback riding by their pediatrician

program specifics
Location: Lovelane Special Needs Horseback Riding Program, Lincoln, MA
Min/Max: Minimum of 3 / Maximum of 6 students
Student/Teacher Ratio: 3:1
Do the participants need to bring anything?
- A helmet (one will be provided if you do not have your own)
- Appropriate riding attire: long pants and proper clothes for the weather
- Barn appropriate footwear: flat soled boots with a heel are best, sneakers are also ok. NO open toed shoes, sandals or crocks
Facility/Equipment requirements (instructor): Required registration forms must be received by Monday, April 10th in order to participate. Forms include:
- New Student Information Form
- Release Forms (Barn, Trail, Photo)
- Physician Referral (needs to be completed and signed by child’s pediatrician)
